About

With feet planted on the rocky soil of Maine’s remote Swan’s Island, Jane Goodrich and Jim Van Pernis established Saturn Press in 1986. Their distinctive designs and high-quality letterpress printing have attracted a large following.

James and Deirdre Anderson assumed ownership in 2024. We now operate Saturn Press from the charming and historic town of Kent, Connecticut in the Litchfield Hills. After a career in product development and education respectively, we are proud to continue the tradition of developing beautiful and unique letterpress greeting cards.

Customers love our cards because of the compelling (and often quirky) designs printed on high-quality paper - they can see and feel the difference between a Saturn Press card and others. A Saturn Press card is the perfect way to celebrate a milestone, brighten someone’s day, and to share sentiments for those you care about.

Our guiding philosophy is simple - create beautiful things for everyday life.  We hope you cherish Saturn Press letterpress cards as much as we enjoy providing it to you.

Anatomy of a Saturn Press Card

People sometimes ask us what is special about a Saturn Press card.

Images -  We inherited a huge collection of ephemera that provides a cornucopia of inspiration, and we continue to add to it

Paper -  We use the best card stock (80 or 100lb cover), Felt or Vellum finish, and deckle edge.  It’s not easy to source the fine paper we use – but we think it looks and feels right

Printing -  Letterpress is an analog technology with limitations that force us to be more creative. While we strive for perfection, sometimes it’s the imperfections that sneak through that make a card uniquely Saturn Press
